Tuna salad on a toasted bun

This tuna salad sandwich is not your typical “tuna outta the can with mayo” one.  It’s the real deal.  I don’t think the Chef would be caught dead using canned meat.  Ever.

So, he started with two actual tuna fillets.  Using salt and pepper to coat the outside, he then grilled them for 5 minutes on each side.  The middle was still a little pink (which is fine as long as it’s good quality tuna).

He then shreds it up, throws in a bit of olive oil, capers, oregano, feta cheese, and salt and pepper.  Using a good quality toasted bun, he placed a few thin-cut cucumbers on the bottom, he piles up the tuna mixture in the middle, and… viola!



  1. Seriously…should he be a chef in real life? I think he missed his calling…..

  2. Haha, Karin. His problem is that he’s talented at about 50 different things, but none of them mesh into one career. I actually think he would hate being a chef in real life. He wouldn’t like cooking under pressure or be constrained to preparing certain kinds of meals all the time. He’d flourish as someone’s personal chef perhaps, but not restaurant work.

  5. Wow! I’m more impressed every time you share another one of Chef’s dishes! Can he teach me how to cook fish? That scares me so I never do it…thus the canned tuna. 🙂
