I haven’t been good about posting updates on the boys and what they’re up to much these days! Due to the cold weather, we don’t get out much and I’m a little sheepish to admit that we let them watch their favorite movie almost every day. They ask to watch either “Tretch” (Shrek) or “Melmo” (Elmo) quite a bit these days.
I’m struggling to get enough food in them. Even though we’re housebound, they are still very active, jumping on the bed, running back and forth the length of our house, and wrestling with daddy. However, their appetites are pretty sparse. They have started drinking Pediasure to get extra nutrients and calories. Today, I found a great way to get them to eat more veggies and meat. I made Macaroni and Cheese and instead of using milk and butter, I stirred in a 1/2 cup of sour cream, cheese packet, jar of pureed squash (baby food), and a bit of parmesan cheese. I chopped up ham lunch meat and stirred it in and they LOVED it!!!
They asked for seconds and thirds!!!
When the Chef is here, he’s often studying in the back office area. However, the boys relish anytime he’ll let them in to play.
As you can see, they really adore their daddy these days. And he’s truly a wonderful wonderful daddy. He’s playful with them, yet firm when he needs to be. He’s patient and consistent. It’s truly a joy to watch him grow into this role.
The boys are also getting very verbal. It’s so fun to hear them learn new words and phrases. Every night when they go to bed, we say prayers and at the end they will both say “Aaaamen!” They both can say all of their letters and L can pick out about 1/3 of the letters and name them. M is starting to put a lot of words together in 2-phrase sentences. One he said today was “Mac-o cheese”.
M was scared of the bathtub when we first moved to the new house. We had to bring him in the shower with us for a couple of days before he was okay with the bathtub again. However, he now loves it. They usually take a bath every night, then we let them run around naked for a few minutes before putting their pajamas on (might be their most favorite time of the day- typical males haha!)
In the bathtub, they love to stack up some Disney characters that my brother got them for Christmas. They knock them into the water then stack them back up again. And they can name all of the characters. They also love (and name) most Sesame Street characters and of course, Shrek.
