First day of work, highest high meets lowest low…

I just finished my first solo day of work!  And it went very very well.  I was able to start the day off on a great note: photographing newborn twin boys!

I had the best time with their mom, talking “twin mom stuff”.  She was a joy to work with and the boys were as sweet as could be!  I admit I teared up a bit editing these photos, thinking back to my own sweet boys at this age.

After photographing these boys, I was able to photograph three sweet baby girls.  This one’s mom was quite emotional when I showed her the photographs.  She was a first time mother and just cried and cried when she saw the photos.  Made me feel so honored to be able to provide something for her to document this special time in her life.

This little one is the youngest of five and was an abolute angel to photograph!  I hope she stays so laid back for her parents!

And this little one was truly the apple of her daddy’s eye!

It was such a great day, being able to bring smiles to these new parents through the pictures of their newborns.

Unfortunately, I also had to experience the hardest part of my job:  photographing a baby that passed away.  This one was a tiny and perfect 20 week old baby boy.  He weighed just 11 oz., but had perfect little hands and feet.  Tiny little fingernails, perfect little body.  Getting through that photo shoot was quite a challenge.  I had to block out any of my motherly empathy until after I finished the shoot.  My mom later told me that it’s such a wonderful gift to give grieving parents.  Having photos of their sweet baby that they can keep forever…

So all in all, a very intense day.  I continue to feel very blessed to be able to have such a great job that allows me to minister to people as well as give great gifts and share a lot of smiles, some tears, and capture precious moments in time.
